Fleet & Plant Manager

Key Responsibilities

Fleet Management:

  • Manage the ordering of company cars in line with policy documents and employee requirements.
  • Maintain an up-to-date fleet database, reporting changes as necessary.
  • Review and update the company car list bi-annually, recommending additions or removals based on uptake and obsolescence.
  • Provide monthly mileage reviews (actual vs. proposed contract mileage) and ensure compliance with DVLA regulations for grey fleet drivers (insurance, licenses, V5, MOT, tax).
  • Ensure all accidents are reported in line with insurer and driver handbook requirements, resolving cases promptly.
  • Conduct market testing of contract hire rates, proposing supplier additions or omissions as necessary.

Plant Management:

  • Ensure all Caddick-owned plant, including road sweepers, is "hired out" internally or externally to maximize commercial benefit.
  • Produce monthly commercial reports on hired-out plant usage.
  • Recommend plant purchases or sales based on HSE regulations, asset age, and maintenance costs.
  • Maintain the Hilti OnTrack asset system for accuracy and compliance.
  • Collaborate with the Caddick Construction Plant Manager to align strategies and optimize resource usage.

Reporting and Analysis:

  • Produce monthly reports on fleet and plant performance, including ordered vehicles, outstanding deliveries, damages, insurance claims, and commercial benefits.
  • Provide insights and recommendations to improve asset utilization and cost-efficiency.
 

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of the construction plant and car/van fleet industries.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word, with the ability to produce detailed reports and analyses.
  • Negotiation Skills: Skilled in negotiating with suppliers and contractors to secure favourable terms.
  • Commercial Acumen: Strong awareness of cost-efficiency and maximizing commercial benefits.
  • Organizational Ability: Excellent planning and time-management skills to meet deadlines.
  • Communication Skills: Clear and effective communicator, capable of building strong working relationships.
  • Team Player: Collaborative approach to working with internal teams and stakeholders.
