Easy does it…. the final concrete precast slab is manoeuvred into place on the Vida Healthcare £15m dementia specialist care home in Harrogate.
It was carefully lowered into place by crane this week – completing the roof of the 100-bed residential home.
Each slab weighs in at a hefty 1.6 tonne and, together form the floors and roof on structural blockwork walls. A total of 1,130 have been delivered and installed on this project.
The facility is expected to open in summer 2021 and is designed to encompass eight self-sufficient houses, as well as communal areas such as a newsagent, coffee shop, private cinema and sensory gardens.
Chris Allott, Senior Contract Manager at Caddick Construction, added: ““We’re very happy with the progress being made on site. It’s been fantastic to work with Vida on this project and it means a lot that we are contributing to the provision of exceptional dementia care.”
