St Ann’s Builder Raises £6k To Support New Hospice

Caddick, the contractor currently building St Ann’s new hospice in Heald Green, has donated £6,000 to the charity as part of ongoing fundraising efforts through the ‘Build it Together’ appeal.

The major donation follows a fundraising day held by Caddick, which included the contractor’s annual charity golf day, silent auctions and raffles with key clients and supply chain partners.

The team collectively raised £5,000 with an additional £1,000 donated by Caddick’s Chairman, Paul Caddick. Money raised will go towards St Ann’s Build it Together appeal, which has so far raised £1.3m to help fund the long-awaited new hospice development.

Caddick began building work on the new hospice earlier this year with work including the creation of a modernised 27-bedroom inpatient unit to help those impacted by life limiting illnesses across Greater Manchester.

Located within the boundary of the Cheadle Royal conservation area, the new hospice will replace the charity’s existing Heald Green hospice, which is located in an adjacent Victorian building that is no longer fit for the future.

New facilities are set to include two separate buildings connected by a linked corridor with outpatient services, and dedicated bereavement and family support spaces surrounded by landscaped gardens.

The first building will house the main reception, cafe, kitchen, training space and offices as well as a Being You Centre for outpatient services. The second building will be home to the inpatient unit and family overnight rooms.

Rachel McMillan, Chief Executive at St Ann’s Hospice, said: “We are so grateful to everyone at Caddick for their fundraising efforts for our new hospice. It has been a pleasure to work with the team on the project and seeing the progress on the building site of our new hospice is a daily source of excitement for us all at St Ann’s. The new hospice will be transformational for our patients and their loved ones and something we have envisioned for a long time. To see it now becoming a reality thanks to Caddick Construction is wonderful. The team have all become close to the project and know just what a difference it will make, so for them to fundraise for us as well is very special.”

Dave Saville, Regional Managing Director of Caddick Construction North West, commented: “We began construction work at St Ann’s earlier this year, but the team’s involvement in getting the project off the ground started long before we arrived on site. It means a great deal to us to be able to support St Ann’s fundraising efforts, so they can continue to provide much-needed specialist palliative care for those affected by illness and their families.”
