Caddick have been awarded the contract to construct Barrow’s inaugural university campus. The project has been designed to facilitate a smooth transition from secondary to higher education, with a broader goal of fostering a prosperous future for education in the borough.
The works consist of the design and construction of new teaching spaces, staff offices, catering facilities, car parking, and cycle storage facilities on the 2.76-hectare site.
The project design, inspired by Barrow’s history, features a two-story building with a distinctive curved roof line, resembling the surface of a submarine. The use of strategically selected glazing not only encourages natural light but also complements social spaces and integrates seamlessly with green infrastructure.
