The contract for West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue involved the demolition of the existing fire station and next door doctor’s surgery as well as the redevelopment of a nearby house, which was converted into a five- bedroom accommodation for night shift fire fighters. The new fire station is larger than the previous building and comprised a steel frame building with brick and block constructed external walls. It provides two appliance bays and accommodation for daytime fire station crew including welfare and cleaning facilities, a gym, workshop, administrative training and meeting rooms.
