Charity Abseil Raises Over £17k for Leeds Rhinos Foundation

Charity Abseil Raises Over £17k for Leeds Rhinos Foundation

Yorkshire’s homegrown property and construction company, Caddick, has raised in excess of £17,500 for the Leeds Rhinos Foundation with staff across the business abseiling 45 meters down the face of one of Leeds’ newest residential developments – Moda, New York Square.

The fundraising event was the second annual abseil by Caddick after the team raised £20,000 in 2023 for Motor Neurone Disease Association (MNDA) in support of Leeds Rhinos legend, Rob Burrow CBE.

Caddick also donated places at the event to Candlelighters Trust and Children’s Heart Surgery Fund, who raised vital funds for their respective charities.

This year’s event took place on 7 September and saw 18 volunteers from across Caddick descend Moda Living’s award-winning 17-storey landmark residential development at SOYO, Leeds.

Included in the abseil team were Caddick’s most recent senior appointments, the Regional Construction Managing Directors for North East and Yorkshire, Midlands and the North West, Steve Ford, Ray O’Sullivan and Dave Saville respectively.

Kairen Brown, Head of CSR at Caddick, commented:  We’ve been very excited to replicate last  year’s success and show our support for Leeds Rhinos Foundation, a charity in which delivers projects in the heart of the local community, by harnessing the power of sport to make a lasting, positive impact on individuals’ lives. Well done to everyone involved.”

Bob Bowman QPM, CEO, Leeds Rhinos Foundation, added: "Here at the Foundation, we are immensely grateful for the long-standing support we have received from Caddick over the years.

"Caddick demonstrates an admirable commitment to using their resources to help the Leeds Rhinos Foundation expand. Their support enables us to provide many more opportunities for individuals to reach their full potential.

"We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who not only chose to raise money for our charity, but tested their nerves to complete the abseil. We understand that for many, this was a significant personal accomplishment."

Moda, New York Square was developed and built by Caddick and includes 515 unique one, two and three-bedroom build-to-rent apartments by Moda Living. Completed in 2023, the development itself saw the team create extensive social value throughout construction.
