Caddick Construction support Warrington Food Bank expansion

Caddick Construction and partners, Chancerygate Ltd and Northwoods Investors, have donated £4,500 to Warrington Food Bank as the charity expands its operations to meet growing needs.

Established 10 years ago, Warrington Food Bank is seeing unprecedented demand for its food parcels due to changes to post-covid benefit, coupled with hikes in heating bills and fuel prices, and food price inflation.

To meet this demand Warrington Food Bank has negotiated terms for a third warehouse in the town on Tanning Court, adjacent to the Riverside Retail Park. The joint donation from Caddick and its partner Chancerygate, is going towards kitting out the warehouse to make it fit-for-purpose for food storage and distribution.

David McDonald, Chief Executive of Warrington Food Bank, explained: “Last year we put 63,000 meals on the table for around 7,000 families and that need is greater than ever. We rely on donations from businesses and partners across the region, as well as donations from individuals who perhaps buy an extra tin or two and put them in our collection points at local supermarkets. Warrington has an amazing community spirit and we couldn’t help as many as we do without that continued support.”

Caddick Construction has been supporting Warrington Food Bank with food donations for the last three years, after establishing its North West Headquarters in the town and undertaking several high profiles construction projects such as the Warrington Youth Zone and the Gemini 8 industrial scheme on Apollo Park.

Michelle Swarbrick, Caddick Construction Social Value Manager, said: “We are delighted to have been able to help get the new warehouse facility up and running so even more families can receive the support they need. Warrington is home to Caddick’s North West headquarters and so many of our staff live locally or have family here. As part of the Warrington community, it’s important we support worthwhile projects such as the Food Bank so they can keep passing on the benefits to those in need.”

As well as the food support, Warrington Food Bank also has experts who give their time for free to offer advice on legal, housing, debt or benefit issues.

What people say?

We really appreciate the time and effort that went into making this all happen. It's fantastic to see people working in the industry and giving some insight to the pupils about what the various careers in construction involve.
