Caddick Construction has handed over a new residential development for over 55s on Plank Lane in Leigh to Torus.
Marking the second extra care development delivered by Caddick in partnership with Torus, Furnace Court comprises a four-storey apartment block of 78 apartments and nine bungalows for those aged 55 years and over. Caddick was appointed to the Furnace Court residential project in 2023 through the NHS Shared Business Services: Public Sector Construction Works Framework (NHS SBS), which meant early contractor involvement to bring greater value to Torus.
Dave Saville, Regional Managing Director for Caddick Construction in the North West, comments: “We are very proud to be growing our presence on frameworks across the North West such as the NHS SBS Framework. As with every extra care development we deliver, ensuring efficiency and a high-quality build is absolutely vital, and through our place on the framework we were able to provide quick and early engagement for Torus.
“Our presence in the public sector and residential market is growing, and we are thrilled to include Plank Lane within our evolving portfolio as we continue to grow our pipeline across the North West.”
Steve Alcock, Director of Development and Technical for Torus Developments, said: “We are delighted Caddick has successfully completed Furnace Court. This was a complex part-built scheme and the project team excelled, creating new affordable homes for over 55s that are safe, energy efficient and accessible.”
Completed in 2022, Caddick previously delivered Broomfields, a Warrington over 55s development for Torus, which saw the creation of 45 apartments for affordable rent.
Elsewhere in the region, Caddick is working to deliver a number of over 55s residential developments, including the redevelopment of Chorlton Baths in Greater Manchester, to provide 50 HAPPI (Housing our Ageing Population Panel for Innovation) designed apartments for local residents.
