Caddick Eyes Further Regional Growth With East Midlands Appointment

Caddick Construction has appointed Paul Sykes as Regional Managing Director for the East Midlands in a move that will see the contractor expand its established presence in the West Midlands.

Paul joins Caddick from Bowmer + Kirkland where he built a three-decade career, culminating in his leadership of the contractor’s North West business following his promotion to the role of Regional Director in 2021.

A Quantity Surveyor by profession, Paul has held a number of positions throughout his career, climbing the ranks to become Associate Director in 2007. In the role, Paul was commercial lead on major projects in Scotland valued at £133m before joining B&K’s North West leadership team in 2014.

In his new role, Paul will work closely with Caddick Construction’s Regional Managing Director, Ray O’Sullivan, who joined the business when it launched in the region in 2023. Caddick’s West Midlands business has since established a strong foothold, with a pipeline of £1bn and a forward order book of £300m.

Throughout his career, Paul has delivered a number of high profile projects. In the Midlands, this includes the £100m+ St. George’s Park National Football Centre in Burton-upon-Trent and the Derby Arena velodrome at Pride Park.

Paul will fulfil a remit to grow Caddick Construction’s presence in the East Midlands, targeting private sector projects in Caddick’s key markets. These include industrial and logistics, high-rise residential and commercial offices.

The targeted expansion will also include work within the public sector as Caddick expands its presence on a range of leading frameworks, including its recent appointment to the Department for Education’s £15bn Construction Framework 2025.

Paul Sykes commented:

“Throughout my career I’ve been fortunate to work on high-profile projects while supporting regional business growth, and these experiences have shaped my approach to leadership and delivery. I’m joining Caddick at a pivotal time as the business continues to grow, and I’m excited to be part of that progress and to help shape what Caddick can become in the East Midlands.

“My focus is on building strong teams, creating an environment where people are supported, challenged and able to perform at their best. I’m also an advocate for creating opportunities within the industry; by attracting great talent and bringing out the best in our people, we can drive the continued success of Caddick Construction.” Paul Sykes, Regional Managing Director for the East Midlands

Paul Dodsworth, Group Managing Director at Caddick Construction Group, added:

“Paul’s appointment is an important step in our continued regional growth strategy. He brings a wealth of experience, a strong track record of delivering complex projects and a people-focused approach that closely aligns with our values at Caddick.

“As we build on the strong foundations established in the Midlands, expanding into the East Midlands is a significant opportunity for us. With Paul leading the region, we are well positioned to grow, strengthen our client relationships and continue building high-performing teams that will support our long-term ambitions.” Paul Dodsworth, Group Managing Director at Caddick Construction Group
