Teams from Caddick, the contractor currently on site at the major SOYO regeneration scheme in Leeds city centre and the new urban logistics development, T45, located off the A63, has taken time out from building work to support Co-op Academy Brierley as part of the business’ Communities Month volunteer programme.
The teams spent 47 hours supporting the academy with its Brierley Farm and Forest School project. Joined by volunteers from sister companies, Moda and Caddick Developments, the teams helped to clear debris and prepare the ground to make way for the new Forest School.
Co-op Academy Brierley is a new Special Educational Needs and Disabilities school in Leeds, which supports children with complex needs in a purpose-built environment. The new Brierley Farm and Forest School will be a valuable outdoor learning space for the pupils.
Caddick’s annual Communities Month initiative builds on its support for the communities it works within across Yorkshire, and forms part of its wider Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) strategy, Places for Life.
As a registered partner with the Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS), Caddick is dedicated to raising standards across its business and the wider industry, which includes extensive investment in activity that positively impacts local people.
Co-op Academy Brierley was selected by the teams of volunteers as part of Caddick’s work on Moda Living’s new student living development, SOYO Block D, in the heart of Leeds and Chancerygate’s T45 logistics development scheme.
Steve Ford, Regional Managing Director, Caddick Construction Yorkshire & North East, commented:
“We’re proud to support and contribute to the exciting new Brierley Farm and Forest School project at Co-op Academy Brierley; the Forest School will offer pupils a fun and immersive outdoor learning environment. Our Communities Month initiative is a chance for our team to step away from their regular duties and dedicate time to create deeper connections with the local community in Leeds. Thank you to our partners who also volunteered their time with us to help clear the way for this great space.” Steve Ford, Regional Managing Director, Caddick Construction Yorkshire & North East
Hannah Danby, Deputy Head at Co-op Academy Brierley, added:
“Caddick has supported the development of our Farm and Forest school through volunteer days and creating links with local colleges. The volunteers brought such energy and enthusiasm to the day and cleared our woodland to create a safe environment for our children. As a special school we are creating magical environments for learners who might not experience the great outdoors in their home lives and the difference the Caddick volunteers have made to developing our project is huge. A massive thank you to each and everyone of them and to Caddick for reaching out to us to offer support.” Hannah Danby, Deputy Head at Co-op Academy Brierley
