National Apprenticeship Week 2026: Lucy Booth

This National Apprenticeship Week, we’re highlighting the next generation of talent building their careers at Caddick. At Caddick, we are proud to support students through work and T-Level placements giving them real on-site experience that build the skills and confidence needed to thrive.

To mark T-Level Thursday, we caught up with Lucy Booth, our Apprentice Site Manager who progressed onto an apprenticeship with us after completing her T Level work placement, she is currently based on our SOYO D project in the centre of Leeds for our client Moda.

I first joined Caddick in August 2024 for my T Level work placement as part of my college course, during this time I was based on the now completed Railway Street project for 54North Homes in Leeds. This was my first time on a live construction site, and I quickly realised how much I enjoyed it. After my placement I was offered an apprenticeship at Caddick, I was really pleased as I really enjoyed my time on site with the team.

In September 2025, I officially started my apprenticeship as an Apprentice Site Manager. I’m currently completing a Site Supervision Level 4 Apprenticeship at Leeds College of Building. The course supports my on-site role by helping me develop both practical and supervisory skills which I can apply directly to my work. Every day on site is different, and I enjoy being involved in various tasks and learning new aspects of the role.

I decided to choose the apprenticeship route because I wanted to gain hands-on experience while learning, rather than focusing solely on classroom-based education. Being able to apply what I learn straight away on site has really helped me understand the role better.
Caddick has been very supportive throughout my apprenticeship and have been supportive since my work placement. My line manager Steve Pitts and the wider site team have been especially helpful, always taking time to explain things and guide me through tasks so I can build my knowledge and confidence on site.

Since starting my apprenticeship my confidence has improved significantly, especially when speaking and communicating at different levels on site. Working in a predominantly male environment has also helped me build resilience and confidence in my role.

In the future I hope to successfully complete my current course and continue developing my career in construction, possibly moving on to a degree apprenticeship.

I would definitely recommend doing an apprenticeship, especially if you have completed a T-Level or work placement, it’s a great way to gain experience and you never know, you may even be offered a job after.
