Supply Chain Collaboration Delivers New Sustainable Packaging

Caddick Construction has partnered with Whitecroft Lighting and mechanical, electrical and public health service provider, G&H, to trial the use of reusable Geopak packaging for the delivery of project lighting components and materials.

All lighting products were delivered to the Harrogate College project - where Caddick Construction is building the new 3,997sqm main campus - using Geopak's reusable packaging system, replacing traditional single-use pallets, shrink wrap and cardboard.

Following its success, Caddick Construction will implement the sustainable packaging solution across all future projects in Yorkshire, the North East, North West and Midlands regions where Whitecroft Lighting is appointed as the designated supplier, reinforcing its commitment to reducing waste and lowering carbon emissions.

The Geopak solution was developed by Whitecroft Lighting and its key partners to offer a waste-eliminating solution that meets the challenges of a busy modern construction site. Fitted with GPS tracking, Geopak is designed to minimise waste, boost site efficiency and offer easy returns.

Geopak provides significant environmental benefits. By reusing each Geopak a minimum of 12 times it would:
● Eliminate 609.03kg of single-use packaging waste
● Deliver a 72.41% reduction in carbon emissions
● Create a total of 107.5kg CO2e compared to 389.68kg CO2e produced by traditional packaging methods.

The partnership demonstrates how collaboration across the supply chain can deliver measurable environmental improvements while supporting more sustainable ways of working. By adopting reusable packaging, Caddick Construction is reducing unnecessary waste on site and bolstering its commitment to embed sustainability throughout every stage of project delivery, while maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency.
