Caddick Construction was appointed to deliver the Chorlton Baths scheme in Manchester on behalf of Mosscare St Vincent's Housing Group

The former Chorlton Leisure Centre has been redeveloped into two five-story blocks containing 50 new apartments for residents over the age of 55, providing affordable, sustainable housing. Featuring an accessible layout, generous internal space, and private balcony space in every apartment.

HAPPI Principles

In accordance with the HAPPI principles (Housing our Aging Population Panel for Innovation), we aim to create a positive, comfortable, social space for the residents of Chorlton baths. This includes community spaces such as a resident’s garden, mobility and cycle storage, and an external deck walkway to encourage residents to chat and socialise. A communal space available for hire for workshops and events maintains a connection with the local community and encourages socialisation amongst residents. Three neighbourhood apartments will be leased to Manchester City Council, acting as a space for those needing supported accommodation after a hospital visit.

Supporting the community

As part of our dedication to investing locally, Caddick has taken part in a variety of social value initiatives in the duration of this project. Beginning with Caddick staff generously donating their time during this project into restoring an orchid garden at Chorlton park and aiding local charity the Little Green Sock project in moving units. As part of our commitment to supporting and spreading joy within the local community Caddick donated £5,000 to the MSV community fund and 100 easter eggs to the community. Supporting the next generation is a crucial part of our commitment to the communities we work in. As part of the ‘We are Bridging the Gap’ programme, a collaboration between Catch 22 and We are Footprint, Caddick welcomed young people from the community at our Chorlton Baths site. During the visit we explored live projects, discussed pathways into construction, and took them on a tour of the site.
