The redevelopment of the Headingley complex in Leeds included a state-of-the-art sports academy for Leeds Carnegie University.
The project involved providing facilities for rugby, cricket, abseiling, and sports sciences, including software development and performance analysis. Extensive upgrades to the cricket ground also took place, along with new East and West Stands, hospitality suites, a hotel and conference centre, a press centre, and a scoring/events management facility. A new £21m pavilion was also constructed.
All works were carried out while keeping the facility fully operational, ensuring minimal disruption to sporting events and university activities. The East Stand accommodated 4,600 spectators and integrated a sports sciences academy, hospitality suites, bar, and restaurant.
Close collaboration with Leeds Carnegie University ensured IT and interactive equipment were installed to meet end-user requirements. Additional projects delivered at the site included press facilities, hotel accommodation, and extensive conference and entertainment amenities, creating a modern, multi-use sports destination.
