At Railway Street in central Leeds, we delivered 58 high-quality, affordable and sustainable new apartments close to Quarry House.

The scheme comprised 28 one-bedroom, 25 two-bedroom and five three-bedroom homes, all designed to a high specification with flexible layouts, including workspace areas to support home working.

Sustainability and Design

Built on the site of the former Yorkshire Rider Social Club, the development prioritised energy efficiency and green travel. Heat pumps provided hot water, while EV charging points and secure cycle storage encouraged low-carbon transport. Ground-floor apartments benefited from private gardens, and external landscaped areas with grass and trees enhanced biodiversity and created pleasant communal spaces for residents.

Health and Safety Excellence

Constructing a city-centre development adjacent to busy roads and live railway lines presented complex health and safety challenges. Tower crane operations, deep excavations, piling, concrete frame erection, and working at height were all managed with detailed planning, risk assessments, and temporary works designs. Segregated pedestrian routes, traffic management, secure fencing, and robust site supervision ensured the safety of both workforce and the public throughout the project. Additional measures were implemented for manual handling, underground services, and abnormal ground conditions to maintain safe and efficient construction.

Railway Street combined thoughtful, sustainable design with rigorous site management, delivering energy-efficient, flexible apartments in a central urban location. The development provided modern living spaces while prioritising wellbeing, safety, and environmental responsibility.
