In the heart of Leeds city centre, we transformed the 16-storey West Point residential building on Wellington Street.

This £24.5m project involved replacing 12,000 m² of cladding and 2,500 m² of brickwork, restoring safety and reassurance for residents while ensuring full regulatory compliance.

About the Project

Located on Wellington Street in the centre of Leeds, the 16-storey West Point residential building underwent one of the largest recladding schemes outside London.

The project involved replacing 12,000 m² of cladding, the equivalent of the footprint of Trafalgar Square, and 2,500 m² of brickwork, roughly the size of six basketball courts. A fully compliant façade system was installed in line with the Building Safety Act, including 25,000 linear meters of firestops and cavity barriers.

All works were carefully planned and delivered while the building remained fully occupied, maintaining clear communication with residents and minimising disruption throughout. The scheme concluded with the award of EWS1 certification, giving residents and property owners confidence, security, and long-term peace of mind.

Social Value and Community Impact

Beyond the building itself, Caddick invested in the local community. The project supported over 200 students across Leeds through initiatives with Leeds Beckett University and Castleford College, and partnered with Leeds College of Building students to carry out refurbishment works at Herd Farm Residential and Activity Centre, a vital community resource. These initiatives reinforced Caddick’s commitment to social responsibility alongside building safety, demonstrating a positive impact for residents and the wider city.
